Ask of me

Our Father commands us to ask of him. "Ask of me, and I shall give thee the heaten for thine inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession (Psalm 2:8, KJV version)" In NLT version, it is read "Only ask, and I will give you the nations as your inheritance, the whole earth as your possession."

EM Bounds said that "in this invitation is conveyed the assurance of prayer", meaning only if we ask God, he will surely answer. When Chanhee was back home during the weekend, I liked to feed him more and better, because his food in the dorm would be probably not as good as the home-made food (I assume). On Saturday morning, I asked what he would want to eat for breakfast. He said he was not much hungry so he would have some left-over food from the house church meeting. And he added "I want that green beans, too", pointing the stir-fried green beans in the pot. Immediately, I was filled with joy, simply because he requested me of something. Whatever it is, if he would ask of me, I was willing to give to him because my heart was full of love for him. I just wanted to give anything to him if he requested. Suddenly, I thought of this bible verse and what EM Bounds said about it. Ask of me. Here God was really willing to answer only if we ask based on the love relationship. During our morning QT recently, I realized that God has also answered to even Cain's request (or complaining, what an attitude!) although his hands might have been still wet with Abel's blood. How could God answer to even a murderer's request? He was a sinner! Well, indeed, God has answered our prayer when we asked, even when we were still sinners. To me, God is too merciful to say no to a man's prayer, whether or not he is a sinner or righteous man. Only if he truly believes in God that He would answer to his prayer, our Father wouldn't refuse to answer. Knowing His character, I'm encouraged to pray more, expect his answer more, and also love our God more. God is so good!
